LYON (H.Coll)

Azure, a lion passant or, between three plates each charged with a griffin’s head erased sable. Mantling: azure and or. Crest: On a wreath of the colours, in front of a lion’s head erased argent, two hurts fesswise. Motto: "Pro rege et patria". Livery: Black and White.

Sons of Col. Francis Lyon, RHA., born 1834; died 1885; married 1863, Flora daughter of Hon. A Annesley.

(1). Lieut.-Col. Charles Lyon, RA. (ret), ADC. to Gov. of Ceylon, born 1865; married 1894, Rachel Mary Fearne (died 1926), only child of late Sir Arthur Havelock, GCSI.,GCMG.,GCIE., Gov. of Ceylon; and has had issue.

(1). Francis Charles Lyon, Gentleman, Lieut. Gren. Guards, born 1895; killed in action 1918.

(2). Margaret Grace.

Res: Appleton Hall, Warrington.

(2). Brig.-Gen. Francis Lyon, CB.,CMG.,CVO.,DSO.,RA., served NW Frontier,India,1897-8; South Africa 1899-1901; Great War; ret. 1922, has Legion of Honour, and Croix de Guerre, born 1867; married 1910, Jane, elder daughter of Joseph C Borwick of Prince Gate, W.; and has issue:

(1). Paul Lyon, Gentleman, born 1912.

(2). Ivan Lyon, Gentleman, born 1915.

(3). Frank Lyon, Gentleman, born 1921.

(4). Daughter 1.
