Subject: Jane Tillotson & Eliphalet Lyon

Hi there,
I wanted to say a quick thanks for the Clan Lyon Association website. It has been a tremendously helpful resource for me in researching my Lyon ancestors. I wonder if I might offer a quick correction to one of the entries for a spouse?

My 3rd great grandmother Jane Tillotson, who was married to Eliphalet Lyon, could not have been the child of Rosetta M. Banfill and Lyman M. Tillotson of Topsham, Vermont. Rosetta was born in 1825 and Lyman in 1821. Jane Tillotson was born in 1811. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to identify Jane’s parents. Records from her birthplace of Stratford, New Hampshire are not readily available. The idea that Jane was Rosetta and Lyman’s child may have gotten started because Jane and Eliphalet named one of their daughters Anne Rosetta. I don’t doubt there is some relationship. But there are many records confirming the birth dates of all three, and even if Jane was born slightly later, and Rosetta and Lyman were born slightly earlier, there is still no way Jane can be their child.

Also, the 4th child of Eliphalet Lyon and Jane Tillotson, Anne Rosetta Lyon, was married to Ralph Lindsay Todd only. Those were my 2nd great-grandparents.

Thanks,
Regan=
